Wonderful photos and videos and story you shared Joel especially the photos you can feel the positive energy and emotions from them what a lovely night it must’ve been wish I could’ve been there as I am a big Neil Young fan :)
You’re welcome Joel I’m hoping in the new year to try shooting on film I just need to get a film camera so that’s something I will be looking into definitely :)
What a wonderful story! Looks like it was an incredible night! Love the photos as well, the film makes it look like dramatic old school backstage photopraphs. Love it! 🎸
What's a Neil Young celebration without plenty of dad-joke puns? Thank you for this. Gotta use "Talkin' in the Free World" somewhere. Anywhere but a podcast.
I got carried away in dad joke land but , yes, talkin’ in the free world is a personal fave. Maybe a TV talk show filmed in Windsor or Toledo where an American and Canadian meet over pints to discuss music and politics.
All good, haha. Great account of the time you had. And, awesome photos. Thanks for being a part of it! And for choosing to sing Thrasher with your dad!
Looks like it was a blast. I enjoyed your cover of Thrasher at your show at the Huntsman (as well as here!) :) incidentally, I share my birthday with Garfield the cat.
Thanks, Joel. Your photos add a lovely bit of depth to the wonderful joy and love of that special evening. My partner Sabina and I absolutely LOVED every second, especially seeing you and your dad AND not missing Rose Cousin's sly kick-off to the whole show. Magic, for sure.
Joel, these shots are gorgeously shimmery, and with so much depth to them, some like 3D. They already evoke plenty of nostalgia. I like your description of all the problems you perceived in these captures, though. Julian and Bill were fishing ... down by the river? They do look like they would make for effective motivational speakers! I hope you find that old cassette and digitize it soon.
Such cool backstage reportage and photography Joel. What a special nigh, I’ll never forget. It was great seeing you & chatting backstage afterwards. Long may you, Neil, your dad — and all the artists that performed that night — run.

Thank you, Seamus . Yes - that HP5 film stock makes for some great contrast in black and white.
For sure! Film is the best. Love the substack posts, cheers!
Happy New Year

What a lovely show, thanks for the photos, I felt like I was there! Loved that you got to share the evening with your dad!❤️
Thank you, Wendy . It was great Dad could be there with me .
Fantastic! Looks like I was one of the dudes in the back pondering stuffing their pockets with the last of the catering. Thanks Joel.
Oh man - that’s funny. Had I zoomed in I may have spotted you. Thanks again for the great gig, Dale . Loads of fun.

Thanks Paul. I had fun snapping pictures. Yes, Rose starting it with Journey Through the Past was perfect

Thanks Andi! I hope I find that tape too . Although I suspect it will a humbling listen if it does turn up :)
Oh yeah!? You tell that dusty old cassette I’M JOEL F’ING PLASKETT!

Yes - great seeing you David! I’ve got a super bright hazy photo of you . The flash was too hot :)
Great spread Joel. Long may they run indeed. Matt Mays and El Daddio sounds good enough to go on tour!
Thanks Josh. Dad and Matt packing the van as I type this …
